The skies look like they will be clear this Tuesday, and if they stay that way, the Southern Vermont Astronomy Group (SoVerA) will host a star party at Hoisington Field in Perkinsville.
The event is open to the public. There will be several telescopes set up, and you will be able to view a variety of night sky items.
Saturn will be visible most of the night, and it we are lucky we may get a quick glimpse of Venus before it drops below the western horizon. A waxing crescent Moon will set a bit after 9 pm.
You might want to bring a folding chair and binocular, and you should certainly wear warm footwear. The ground gets cold pretty quickly.
If you have a telescope in your attic and have wished that you knew more about how to use it, drag it downstairs and bring it with you. You will be able to get lots of advice to get you started using it.
