Addison County Senate candidates Cochran, Heffernan, Hardy, Bray

BRISTOL — The four major party candidates for the two State Senate seats representing Addison County have been invited to speak at a Candidates Forum in Bristol this coming Thursday, Oct.10. The goal is to inform the electorate of the Senate district, which includes all of Addison County plus Huntington and Rochester.

The forum will take place at Holley Hall from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

The district is represented by two state senators. The candidates, who have all agreed to take part, are incumbent Democratic Sens. Ruth Hardy of Middlebury and Christopher Bray of Bristol, plus Republican challengers Steven Heffernan of Bristol and Landel Cochran of Huntington. All four of them won races in the Primary Election in August.

The evening will begin with each candidate making a short pitch in which they tell about themselves. After that, moderator John McCright, the Independent news editor, will ask the candidates a couple questions, and then the floor will be open to the members of the audience to ask a few questions.

The Independent will not ask any "trick questions"; we're not even sure what a trick question would be. We expect the candidates to explain their priorities and the policy choices they would make, which would help citizens make decisions on how they will cast their votes.
