Star Party at Northern Skies Observatory Oct. 5!

It looks as though it will have clear skies for Saturday evening, October 5! And, as we move away from summer, the skies get darker earlier, so join other astronomy enthusiasts for our early October star party at the Northern Skies Observatory in Peacham, starting at 7:30 PM.

The moon is a thin waxing crescent, so we should have good dark skies to see lots of amazing deep sky objects! The comet you may have heard about is only visible very close to the sun before dawn, so it won't be on our observing list, but we should have plenty of chances to see other amazing astronomical objects! (By the way, on October 12, the comet will reappear near the sun after sunset, potentially brighter, but the moon will start to be a nuisance!)

The nights are getting cooler so it's always a good idea to bring a sweater! Please leave your flashlights at home - the driveway up to the observatory from the Peacham School parking lot is lit!

Check the nkaf.org Facebook page for late breaking weather news! We hope to see you there!
