Howdy Lincoln Taxpayers Near and Far,
As the Lincoln School District Board moves further into budget planning this fall, we want to offer opportunities for the community to learn more about education funding and education property taxes at both the state and district level. We realize that the variables that drive the homestead education tax rate and overall education tax are both extremely confusing and often misunderstood. To this end, the Board will be hosting an informational session regarding aspects influencing education funding at the state level in Vermont and their impact on local education property taxes. To help the Board navigate this topic, we will be joined by Steph Yu, President and Executive Director of Public Assets Institute, https://publicassets.org, a Montpelier based nonprofit.
Date: Wednesday, October 9th, 2024
Time: 7:00 - 8:30 pm
Location: Burnham Hall, 52 East River Road, Lincoln, VT 05443
For those unable to attend, recording of the informational session will be recorded and posted on the District website (https://lincolnsd.org).
Meanwhile, on the LSD web site, https://lincolnsd.org/education-tax-information, we have provided updates about education tax rates since Town Meeting, including calculations for the tax rates that appear on current bills. We also have posted information about education taxes that we hope will provide the community with helpful context and a better understanding of what has been driving the sharp increases we are experiencing.
Be well all,
The Lincoln School District Board
