The Richmond Planning Commission will be holding a Public Hearing on proposed amendments to the Flood Hazard Overlay District Regulations on Wednesday December 3, 2014 at 7:00 pm at the Richmond Town Center Meeting Room, 203 Bridge Street, Richmond, VT.

The primary purpose of the proposed changes are primarily to ease the permit process for property owners seeking to undertake basic repairs and maintenance.

The most significant changes include exempting basic repair and maintenance activities, increasing the administrative officer’s authority to issue zoning permits without prior Conditional Use approval and prohibiting the creation of new dwelling units in the special flood hazard area.

The proposed changes are contained within Section 6.8 Flood Hazard Overlay District of the Richmond Zoning Regulations. A copy of the proposed zoning amendments may be viewed at the Richmond Town Clerks Office or on the municipal website at http://www.richmondvt.gov/documents/ordinances/.
