Lynn Altadonna's presentation, "Brother Joseph Dutton, from Stowe to Molokai to Sainthood" will be at 7pm Thursday, Oct 3, not at 3 pm as previously scheduled.
Dutton was born in 1843 in the farm property on Mountain Rd at Weeks Hill Rd. The family moved to Janesville, Wisconsin. Dutton served in the civil war; experienced postwar 'dark years'; then sought a place to serve humanity. For 44 years, Brother Dutton was, in his words, a "servant to the lepers" on the Hawaiian island, Molokai.
Dutton always told the world that he was born in Stowe, VT. He wrote to hundreds from the Kalaupapa settlement.
Blessed Sacrament Catholic church in Stowe was built in 1949 and dedicated to Brother Dutton. The church has twelve murals on the outside walls of the church, connecting Stowe to Hawaii in a very special manner.
The presentation is FREE and open to the public, and will be held in the Parish Hall at 7 pm, or via ZOOM: https://zoom.us/j/99595168298?pwd=aCo5D8CJZEP0xh62x0nCroK7Q4dFIN.1
