I'm bringing up some Appalachian tradition this weekend at Stony Grove. We are making apple butter in our copper kettle over open fire, stirring constantly while enjoying a good time with friends, visitors and our community.

The butter requires 12 hours of slow cooking, sugar and spices are added, and then the delicious apple butter is canned and sold in our barn store. Just to add to the day, Fiddlehead Hollow will entertain us from 12 to 2 while we all pick apples, peel apples, and cook apples.
