Slow Fashion Fest

Past event
Oct 5, 2024, 11 AM to 2 PM

A celebration of loving the fashion you already have and reducing the impact of your wardrobe on the environment! Clothing can be swapped, dyed, and mended at our various event stations.

Sewists will be on hand in the Otter Creek Room to help with simple repairs of your beloved garments: Hemming, patching, and seam repair. All other mending, please consult the sewist to see if it's within their capabilities during the event. We will also have at least one sewist available to tell you if more complex alterations would be possible on your garment and give recommendations.

A dye vat of black dye will be available by the back library entrance so you can take those loved but slightly stained garments or those "I never wear it because I hate this color" garments and make them all one new color.

To reserve a dye or sewing slot, please email. Any open slots on the day will be given out on a first come first serve basis.

Out front we will have tents where you can drop off garments still in wearable condition for the swap. Please leave your clothing according to its size in the appropriate tent. Peruse the tents to find a new-to-you treasure! Clothing may be dropped off anytime after 10:30am and before 1:30pm October 5th.

Halloween costumes and accessories are the only items we will be collecting in advance of October 5th. Please email if you have Halloween items to donate to the swap and we can coordinate a drop off or pickup as needed.

This event is entirely volunteer run and we are still accepting volunteers, particularly those who know dye, sewing, or are willing to help with setup or takedown. We have the minimum, but would love to make everyone's shifts shorter. Please email Hope at Santineao@gmail.com to get involved or reserve a sewing or dye time!
