PLEASE NOTE CHANGE IN LOCATION DUE TO Hillsboro ROAD INACCESSIBILITY
Meet at the top of Ireland Road for a walking tour of historic Hillsboro and Little Ireland. We will discover the remnants of a once-thriving community, including abandoned farms and roadways, and learn how Hillsboro and Little Ireland got their names. The ponds, swamps and streams of these steep foothills feed the Lewis Creek.
This walk includes bushwhacking and uneven terrain.
Meet at the parking lot for the Lewis Creek Wildlife Management Area. From Rt 116 turn onto Ireland Rd. Take every left after turning onto Ireland Rd. The first left is ½ mile from 116. The next is 3 miles further just after the red house. The road is safe, but drive carefully. The parking lot of the WMA is at the very end of the road. You can either drive down the lane at the end to get there, or walk, parking anywhere along the side of Ireland Rd, except at the truck turnaround at the left near the end.
Alternately google 4428 Ireland Rd, Starksboro, 05487 and park on the driveway or anywhere near the blue-grey farmhouse, then walk up to the parking lot.
