The Pine St. corridor is a known issue for anybody who rides in Burlington, especially headed into the downtown area from the South. Sharrows instead of a bike lane, tons of on street parking, door zones & potholes galore!
This stretch of road has been the scene of at least 3 different accidents this season alone.
Show up early for snacks if you need to fuel up, or if you need time to get creative with signage. We'll have art supplies on hand for anybody who wants to create their own messages. The Deli opens early, so some of us will be there beforehand to get things organized.
The idea, as with previous rides, is to space people on bikes every 30/60 seconds (depending on turnout) so we can ride safely with traffic & create a strong visual presence without a "critical mass" style blockage. The goal is to be visible during rush hour, ride safely with traffic, but convey strength in numbers with a positive message that affects & reaches a larger number of people in cars (rather than bunching up and just having one car stuck behind a large group).
Hope to see a bunch of bike riders there!
