The Montpelier Parks Commission has adopted a new dog-leashing policy for Hubbard Park, which will help make our park more welcoming to more people. To celebrate, I'm guiding a free nature walk at noon on October 1 called "Ten Wild Things in an Hour."

During the walk, anything is fair game: from the beautiful to the bizarre, the ancient to the nascent. We'll meet at noon at the New Shelter (that's the one farther into the park near the caretaker's house).

Although we'll be walking in the park's new on-leash zone, please leave any pups at home so that we can all focus more on nature. You'll soon be hearing about lots of other events in the park — with or without our dogs.
