If you have never seen/heard throat singing, you will be amazed attending a concert by Tuvan throat singers, the Alash Ensemble, at Vermont Public's Mark Sustic Studio in Colchester. Throat singing is a type of music where the singer can perform two notes at the same time. Sometimes it is a trill and a lower tone, like a drone.
The Alash Ensemble graciously allowed me to use their music for my film Migration about Dukha (Tuvan)reindeer herders in Mongolia. When I showed the movie to the herders in the movie, they wanted to learn the songs of their ancestors, which had been hard since the border between them and their homeland is a closed one.
Please give yourself this magical experience starting at 7 PM on October 4.
