Past event
Nov 19, 2014, 6 to 7 PM

WEDNESDAY @ 6:00PM

Lara Baladi is an Egyptian-Lebanese artist based in Cairo, Egypt. Baladi was instrumental in the 2011 Egyptian uprisings by creating Radio Tahrir and Tahrir Cinema, two platforms to disseminate and archive information during the revolution. Her work based on these archives is currently featured in the exhibition, "Unrest: Art, Activism & Revolution" at Helen Day Art Center. Baladi's talk will articulate the position of the artist during the quickly shifting context of a revolution. How does Baladi position herself as an artist and activist during transition from dictatorship to revolution to post-revolution?
