Grafton Improvement Association's Annual Woods Walk will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 10:00am with a rain date of Sunday, October 20, 204 at 1:00pm. All are invited and it's FREE to the public! We are not sure when this started but we have GIA meeting minutes dating back to the early 1980's talking about it. Come join us for the Grafton tradition!
We will be meeting at Bill Brown's house (now his grandsons', Max's place), at the end of Kidder Hill Road, one mile up from the Kidder Hill Bridge. This will be a three-mile 'stroll' along a relatively easy Class 4 Road to the old Fletcher Farm cellar hole, then to the old soapstone quarries and back.
We plan on having two special guests join us on this year's Walk. Many of you know GIA's Forester, Hayden Lake. Hayden will be talking about the history of the natural forest as we walk, including the impacts of two centuries of logging and farming. We also hope to have a representative from The Windmill Hill Pinnacle Association join us as well to talk about the human history of the forest, including the soapstone quarries and the Fletcher Farm.
So join us on our annual Woods Walk! And follow us on Facebook to keep up to date on all GIA news.
