The Barton Community Giving Garden and the Barton Public Library invite you to join us for a showing of Bess O'Brien's film, Just Getting By. The new documentary tells the story of Vermonters who are struggling with food and housing insecurity. Vermont has the second highest rate of homeless people in the United States, right after California. One third of Vermonters struggle to put food on the table. These are our neighbors, valued members of our local NEK community. The film was shot by director Bess O'Brien and cinematographer Patrick Kennedy and produced by Kingdom County Productions. There will be a Q & A time after the screening with the director and a discussion of local issues and initiatives led by community groups, including (Northeast Kingdom Organizing (NEKO),Northeast Kingdom Community Action (NEKCA), and the Center for an Agricultural Economy (CAE). This showing is being funded by a grant from Vermont Blue Cross and Blue Shield and the Barton Community Giving Garden. Please bring non-perishables for our local food pantry at the Barton Hub.
