Once located on the second floor above the East Calais General Store, the Calais Circulating Library books will be on sale at the East Calais Rec Center, Saturday, October 5 from 9:00 to 3:00 during the Calais Fall Foliage Festival. Many books date back to the 1800s. With some exceptions, books are $1 each. Proceeds go to the Calais Historical Society. Apart from having been part of a local collection, none of these books has a connection with Calais History and, therefore, do not fit within the Calais Historical Society's mission.
Also on display, will be the Civil War cannonball found in Mirror Lake along with information about its recovery, conservation and history. A quilt depicting Calais historical buildings created by Calais women in 1977 will be displayed. "Forever Calais" history books will be available, $20 each.
