Interested in fine-tuning your homestead skills, new to raising meat chickens and need to learn how to process them, or do you love food and just want to have a deeper understanding of what it's all about? We might have just what you're looking for.
Please join Rural Vermont at Union Brook Farm in Northfield for a chicken processing workshop on Sunday, September 29 from 1:00pm - 4:00pm!
Farmers Emily Virzi and Rose Thackeray will teach participants the basics of raising, slaughtering, and processing meat chickens. Participants get to take home one whole delicious meat bird! If there is time and interest, Em & Rose will lead us through instructions for the cutting/parting of whole birds, show us their new poultry packaging equipment, and hear about the recent successful passage of Act 93, the parted poultry bill that makes it easier to buy and sell poultry cuts in Vermont.
Spots available, register now! Registration fee is $70. This includes 3 hours of instruction and 1 whole meat bird that participants will be able to take home.
