A talk, How to Weed Your Attic, Getting Rid of Junk without Destroying History will be presented on September 22nd at 2 pm at the Holcomb House in Johnson. Elizabeth Dow, a retired archivist, who co-authored a book titled the same as her talk will share insights on preserving materials to keep and also how to donate materials to a cultural repository. She will help to answer the question: what papers and other things should be saved for the sake of history and what can be tossed? Is it junk or a special collectable? Learn tips to help you make good decisions when tackling a clean-out project.
The Holcomb House will be open at 1 pm for visitors. The talk is free. Homemade cookies by the Johnson Historical Society will be served. For information contact Linda Jones at 802 635 7401.
