Digging Near Our Shorelines: A Hands-on Workshop for Shoreland Projects
Tues, Sept 24th, 8-11:00am
Crystal Lake State Park, Barton
Free; Breakfast will be served
Are you a contractor, landscaper, engineer, or site worker who moves dirt on our lakeshores? Join us at Crystal Lake State Park in Barton for a hands-on experience about shoreland best management practices (BMPs), hosted by the Orleans County Conservation District. Learn about coir logs and assist with their installation. Coir logs are used to reduce erosive stormwater velocity along the slope, capture sediment, provide a bench for planting, and strengthen the toe of the shoreline.
The workshop includes presentations by the Orleans County Conservation District, Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation, and NorthWoods Stewardship Center.
