AWARE's Candlelight Vigil will be held in Hardwick's Peace Park (between the The Civic Standard and Mike's Service Center) on September 19th at 7pm. This is an evening of remembering survivors and victims of domestic and sexual violence, represented by AWARE's Silent Witnesses. There will be readings of their stories and of timely poems, and an opportunity for sharing if you are so moved. This also can be a time to quietly reflect. Candles will be provided. Call AWARE at 802-472-6463 for more information or email Ashley at awareyouth@vtlink.net.
If you are curious but unable to attend, AWARE is also posting the stories of those we are remembering on our Facebook and Instagram pages during the week of the vigil. Who is affected by domestic violence, and how, is an important but difficult discussion. The stories we are sharing not only are a way to remember victims and survivors — but also offer insight on how domestic violence affects people across all ages and genders, and can overlap with animal abuse.
