The 15th Annual Vermont Pumpkin Chuckin' Festival will take place on Sunday September 29th from 11:00am – 4:00pm at the Stowe Events Field on Weeks Hill Road in Stowe. The festival celebrates the sport of "chuckin" pumpkins, for distance, using a do-it-yourself constructed trebuchet, which is a gravity powered catapult.
The chili cook-off is a big hit at this annual event! Do you have a great chili recipe? We'd love to have you enter the cook-off this year. All types of chili are welcome – meat, vegetarian, spicy, mild – anything goes!
Bring two gallons of chili (and a crock pot to keep it warm) to the event by 11:30am on September 29th and your entrance fee to the event is waived. Event attendees pay to taste samples of the chili and vote for their favorite. Cash prizes of $100, $50, and $25 are given to the top three vote getters.
Public admission to the festival is $10 (5 years and under are free). Parking is free. In addition to the pumpkin chuckin' and chili cook-off, there will be a craft fair, food trucks, live music, a volleyball tournament, and kids' activities. The festival raises critical funds to support the Clarina Howard Nichols Center's work of ending domestic and sexual violence, stalking and human trafficking in Lamoille County.
