The Cornwall Cemetery Commission is having a work day at Cornwall's Pleasant Hill Cemetery on Saturday, October 5th, 9AM to Noon. The cemetery is on Galvan Road just south of its intersection with DeLong Road, and we will be cleaning headstones & clearing brush.
No experience needed, instruction will be provided. For headstone cleaning, wear old clothes & bring rubber gloves, a water bucket and a plastic brush. Also a spray bottle if you have one. We'll supply paint stirrers for scraping lichen off stones, and the cleaning solution, a non-toxic enzymatic cleaner. For brush clearing along the fence, loppers and hand clippers will be in order. There will also be an opportunity for a chainsaw to take down some buckthorns and thick brush.
Pleasant Hill appears to have originated as the family burial ground of the Branches, and the earliest burials date from the 1830s. Help us as we work to preserve our community's history.
Please email Anne Collins (annecollins1@att.net) if you are able to come, or with any questions.
