How do small schools thrive (or not) in rural Vermont these days?
The Craftsbury Schools Vision Committee will be hosting a Small Schools Forum on Monday, September 23rd, from 6pm-8pm in the CA Common Room. We'll be presenting case studies (and encouraging discussion) of six different school systems: Cabot, Chelsea, Concord, Hazen, Rochester, and Twinfield. Half of those schools have been part of reconfiguration actions in the last decade; half have not.
Vision Committee members are currently researching many pieces of those school systems, including: reconfiguration processes and outcomes; school spending and tax rates; school enrollment trends; curricular and cocurricular offerings; student satisfaction and performance; and school/community relationships. During an unpredictable time in the education funding landscape, we hope that, by learning what we can from those around us, we can help create the best opportunities for our own students.
