The climate is changing and bringing more uncertainty to the future conditions of forests and the many benefits they provide. The Burke Conservation Commission and the Burke Town Forest Committee invite you to join a walk in the woods on Saturday October 5, 2024 at 10am. Join Dr. Ali Kosiba, forest ecologist and Extension Forester at the University of Vermont for an interactive tour of Willey Woods Community Forest. We will talk about practical ways to include climate change into forest stewardship.
Participants will receive a handy guide -- 12 Steps to Climate Resilience: Managing Your Forest with Climate Change in Mind. There will be lots of time to ask questions and explore interesting things we see in the woods. Participants should be prepared to walk in the woods where it may be wet or muddy.
Directions to Willey Woods Community Forest in West Burke: Take Sugarhouse Road to Sugar Maple Lane, drive to the end of Sugar Maple Lane to the parking area.
