Hey Neighbors -
Great event happening in Starksboro next Friday Sept 20 starting at 6:30 PM at the Starksboro Meeting House in the village (2875 Rte 116) is coming to our town! The movie Lost Nation has been shown around Vermont to sold out audiences and it's coming here! I'm really excited to see it and I hope you are, too!
The made- in-Vermont movie Lost Nation weaves the stories of the Revolutionary war hero Ethan Allen and Lucy Terry Prince, one of the earliest African American poets together in a film about the fight for Vermont's independence. And bonus: Jay Craven, the director of the film will be joining us for a discussion after the showing. In addition to the movie itself, you'll also be able to check out the great work folks have been doing to freshen up the 1840 Meeting House. And it's free! (Donations gladly accepted!).
You can watch a clip of the movie here: https://vimeo.com/968064372/e67c6a0239
And read a review of the film here: https://www.sevendaysvt.com/arts-culture/vermont-filmmaker-jay-craven-premieres-his-historic[...]041
A few things to know:
Space is limited. While the movie is free we're asking for folks to get a ticket by registering at https://www.catamountarts.org/kcp-presents/. Scroll down to the movie and the showing in Starksboro and click on it. As of today more than half the seats have already been reserved so if you don't have tickets and want to go, get your tickets as soon as you can.
The movie is rated PG13 - violence, language, and is 1 hour 47 minutes
The pews in the Meeting House are classic, which means unpadded wood. Bringing a seat cushion is an option. It's also a bit dark walking from the parking lot behind the town office and town pavilion, so a flashlight might be handy.
The film is being hosted by the Starksboro Historical Society, supported with donations from local businesses and individuals. Donations gratefully accepted! Donations by check- Payable to: Starksboro Historical Society. Mail to: Starksboro Town Office, PO Box 91, Starksboro, VT 05487. Online donations- https://www.starksborovt.org/ 'other earmarked project donations', then in Special Message put Starksboro Historical Society
Hope to see you there!
