The weather is turning to sunny days, cool nights, and a change of leaves ~ a signal that Indigenous Peoples' Day weekend is fast approaching. The 5th Annual Indigenous Peoples' Day Rocks (IPD Rocks) celebrates Vermont's Indigenous peoples, and will happen at The Current on October 5th (rain or shine) from 10am-5-pm. Are you curious about quilling, beading, ash pounding, native foods, or the tribe's buffalo herd? Yes, Indigenous Vermonters raise buffalo! There will be beautiful Abenaki artisan crafts and products, storytelling, music, drumming and dancing with all proceeds directly benefiting Abenaki Helping Abenaki, which provides a strategy of land access, and addresses health disparity and food security among Vermont's native people. The entire community is invited to attend IPD Rocks named by the Vermont Chamber as a top 10 Fall event, with Grammy nominated Baton Rouge bluesman Kenny Neal headlining, and DC's Queen of the Blues, Carly Harvey, and Vermont's own Dave Keller Band.
Get involved as a volunteer! Take in amazing talent & share in a very special day. Every year this event is put on solely by volunteers who help with everything from setup/breakdown to welcome tables, to providing support to the artists (community service hours available).
