Lara Baladi will be giving a talk at Helen Day Art Center in Stowe on Wednesday, November 19th at 6 PM. Baladi is an Egyptian-Lebanese artist based in Cairo, Egypt. She was instrumental in the 2011 Egyptian uprisings by co-founding the media initiatives in Tahrir Square: Radio Tahrir and Tahrir Cinema. Her work based on these archives is featured in the exhibition, "Unrest: Art, Activism and Revolution," on view at Helen Day until Nov. 23rd.
Baladi's talk will articulate the position of the artist during the quickly shifting context of a revolution. How does Baladi position herself as an artist and activist during transition from dictatorship to revolution and post-revolution?
This is an event not to be missed!!!
