One of the most effective ways to alleviate the pressures of the housing crisis is by constructing Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) on already-developed properties. These units- such as an apartment over a garage, a single-family home converted to a duplex, or a tiny home added near the main house- offer a practical way to add much-needed housing. The recent statewide changes in zoning rules have made this process available to more homeowners.

The Shelburne and Williston housing committees will host an informational ADU workshop on Monday, September 16th, at the Shelburne Town Hall. Materials will be available, brief remarks will be given, and Q&As will be conducted with experienced ADU builders, homeowners who have gone through the process, and experts familiar with state and local zoning regulations.

If you have been thinking about adding a rental property, creating a sustainable multi-generational living arrangement, or adding flexibility and value to your home, please stop by. Pizza is at 5:30, and the workshop starts at 6:00. This is an in-person (no remote option) meeting.

Pre-registration is encouraged so we know how much pizza and drinks to order:
