Coming up! The first of this year's fall reading series, WORDS OUT LOUD: Points of View, Points of Light, a program of Art at the Kent, will take place on Sunday, Sept. 15, at the Old West Church and will feature Vermont writers Leslie Sainz and Rebecca Starks reading from their poetry.

About the presenters:
LESLIE SAINZ is the author of HAVE YOU BEEN LONG ENOUGH AT TABLE (Tin House, 2023), winner of the 2024 Audre Lorde Award and a finalist for the Poetry Society of America's Norma Farber First Book Award, the New England Book Award, and the Vermont Book Award. The daughter of Cuban exiles, her work has appeared in the Academy of American Poets' Poem-a-Day, the Yale Review, Kenyon Review, American Poetry Review, and elsewhere. She's received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, CantoMundo, and the Stadler Center for Poetry & Literary Arts at Bucknell University. A former guest host of the award-winning podcast The Slowdown, she currently works as the managing editor of New England Review and teaches in the Newport MFA program at Salve Regina University.
REBECCA STARKS is the author of the poetry collections FETCH, MUSE and TIME IS ALWAYS NOW, a finalist for the 2019 Able Muse Book Award. Her poems and short fiction have appeared in Baltimore Review, Crab Orchard Review, Tahoma Literary Review, Epiphany, Slice, and elsewhere. A recipient of CRAFT's 2023 Flash Prose Prize, Rattle's Neil Postman Award for Metaphor and Poetry Northwest's Richard Hugo Prize, she grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, and lives in Richmond, Vermont.
