Monday, September 16th from 6:30-8:00PM Troop 602 of Scouts America will be hosting an open house at the Scout Barn in Davis Park by the tennis courts in Shelburne. The open house is open to youth and families interested in Scouting, a coed program that focuses on outdoor skills, developing young leaders, and community engagement and service.
Youth members start in the spring of fifth grade and progress through age 18. Besides meeting weekly during the school year, working on rank advancement and merit badge achievements, our scouts plan and participate in monthly weekend long adventures across the state and region, provide service to the community through various projects, and lead a high adventure trip for a week every summer. Recent trips have included travel to Acadia National Park, backpacking in the Adirondacks, cycling across Vermont, weekend trips to Ottawa, Boston, Montreal, and New York City, scuba diving in Florida, and last summer a week spent adventuring with other scouts in Switzerland at an intensional scout camp.
Please join us Monday the 16th for an introduction to our programs, some games and activities, and light refreshments. If you're unable to make it Monday evening, we meet every Monday night that school is in session from 6:45 to 8 O'Clock. We hope to see you there!
Yours in scouting,
