Beaver Rescue Presentation Sept. 17 at Library

Sep 17, 2024, 7 PM

Baby beavers! Just imagine! B.K. was just a tiny little thing when he was rescued. One week old and out in the wild on his own! His rescuer brought him to wildlife rehabber John Aberth.

One year later another beaver is rescued and brought to Aberth. Great timing because this new (female!) beaver was just 1 year old.

Come learn about the raising of these two adorable beavers, B.K. (short for Beaver Kit) and Mrs. Beaver.

John Aberth will be at the Huntington Public Library on Tuesday, September 17 at 7pm. He has slides and video footage of feeding his little charges and introducing them to the kind of habitat that awakens all their dormant beaver instincts.

Aberth is a licensed volunteer wildlife rehabilitator and a retired history professor who lives in Roxbury, VT. He mainly specializes in the rehab of raptors--hawks, owls, and falcons--and of some mammals, including beaver, mink, and weasels. He is also a board member of Protect Our Wildlife, a wildlife advocacy organization based in Stowe. He and his wife, Laura, own a horse farm, with eight horses and a cat.

This presentation is brought to you by the Huntington Conservation Commission and Huntington Public Library Nature Literacy Series.
