The Charlotte Conservation Commission has rescheduled the Mushroom Walk for Saturday, September 14th, from 12 PM to 2 PM on Pease Mountain. Whether you've attended before or not, there's always something new to discover as Meg, our guide, will introduce us to different mushrooms she finds along the way.

Meg is a mycology educator, macro photographer, and author! During this walk, we will explore the woods, learning how to identify various mushrooms and discussing their fascinating roles in nature, from soil building to tree connections.

We'll also dive into exciting topics like how fungi contribute to environmental remediation and even how mycelium can be used in green building materials. Plus, Meg will highlight ways to get involved in community science through iNaturalist, sharing tips for capturing scientific-grade mushroom photos.

What to Bring:
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Weather-appropriate clothing
- Questions and curiosity!
- A smartphone with the iNaturalist app is a bonus, but not required.

The walk will last about 2 hours, rain or shine, and we will meet at the West/Cafeteria side of CCS parking lot at noon. The cost is $20 per person, payable via Venmo (link will be provided after sign-up) or cash on the day. Space is limited to 20 participants, so please sign up in advance!

At the end of the walk, Meg will have signed copies of her book, This Is A Book For People Who Love Mushrooms, and her awesome shirts available for purchase.
