Outdoors in a roofed, open-sided pavilion in a lovely park. This form of dance is similar to contra dancing and square dancing, but with more variety in the movements, patterns, and (live!) music -- with a rich history that goes back to Queen Elizabeth I and Jane Austen. The dances are taught and walked-through, then prompted as you dance -- all instruction is non-gendered. Best suited for teens and adults with the ability to walk briskly. Attend with or without a partner; we'll change partners throughout the afternoon. Casual, comfortable clothing and shoes with low heels (flip flops don't work!) Newcomers welcome - come for the lesson at 3:30pm. Dancing to live music at 4pm: Will Patton (tenor guitar), Susan Reid (violin), Linda Young (harp). Teaching by Martha Kent and Barrett Grimm. $10-$15 sliding scale (pay what you can). Bring your own filled water bottle (no water source on-site).
