Pedestrian Improvement Plan Briefing to Village

Past event
Sep 3, 2024, 5:30 PM

At the Argyle Village Board of Trustees meeting at the Fire House on Tuesday, 3 September at 5:30pm.

Jack Mance of the Adirondack/Glens Falls Transportation Council will be presenting a draft Pedestrian Improvement Plan for our Argyle community. Building on the road and crosswalk improvements the New York Dept of Transportation is finishing up on, Jack and Creighton Manning Engineering Company's Mark Nadolny will highlight additional sidewalk and crosswalk improvements, that if undertaken, will improve further our community's walkability and safety. We hope you can attend the meeting to hear more about these possible pedestrian improvements and to offer your feedback.

The draft Pedestrian Plan stems from Village Trustees seeking a solution to our numerous aging sidewalks, a walking survey undertaken by the Argyle Improvement Association's Streetscape Committee, and from a data gathering survey many residents of our community completed last fall. These were discussed within a steering committee led by the Adirondack/Glens Falls Transportation Council with members from the Washington County Planning Department, New York State Region 1 Department of Transportation, Lake Champlain/Lake George Regional Planning Board, Argyle Improvement Association, and the Argyle Village Board.

Following the meeting on 3 September, a several week period of public comment on the draft plan will be open for community input. If you're interested in our community sidewalks I hope you can attend. If you can't make the meeting, I'm told there will be a link available to access the briefing, after the presentation.
