Sharing the Heat: A Workshop Exploring New Heating and Cooling Infrastructure for Stowe
When: 5:30-6:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024
Where: The Community Meeting Room of the Stowe Free Library
What: Our current choices for heating our buildings are expensive and harmful to our environment. In addition, much of this heat is wasted—vented from buildings, flushed down the drain—or untapped from the ground under our feet. We can capture and repurpose this thermal energy to provide heating and cooling that's economically and locally beneficial.
Join us for this free, one-hour community workshop where you will:
*Learn about a neighborhood approach to using the heat we already have to make heating & cooling accessible and affordable across our community.
*Explore where we have excess heat and where we could use it.
*Understand how Thermal Energy Networks—a low-tech thermal solution—work and what we can do in Stowe.
Your input is needed. Please join your neighbors in this community-led initiative to leverage local opportunities and achieve shared goals. Refreshments will be served.
Presenters: Debbie New, Coordinator at Vermont Community Thermal Networks, and Jared Rodriguez, Executive Director at Community Decarbonization Partners, will facilitate this important discussion.
