The League of Women Voters of Vermont (LWVVT) will host an in-person Candidates Forum for the two candidates running for the Senate in Caledonia County on Thursday, August 29 at St. Johnsbury Athenaeum, 1171 Main Street, from 7:00-8:30 pm. A meet-and-greet is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. The event will also be live streamed on Kingdom Access Television (KATV) viaYouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NliI0dXo40 .
The two major party candidates participating in the Forum are Amanda Cochrane (Democrat-- https://www.cochraneforvermont.com/ ) and Representative Scott Beck (Republican-- https://www.scottbeck4vermont.com/ ). Tom McKone, former Executive Director of the Kellogg-Hubbard Library, will serve as moderator.
With the retirement of Jane Kitchel (Democrat) who served in the Senate since 2005, Cochrane and Beck are running to represent Caledonia County. With issues becoming more contentious and complex, the winning candidate will have much to deal with in the Vermont Senate. Questions for candidates can be sent to league@lwvofvt.org.
This Candidate's Forum is the first of many planned forums to help voters make decisions in the November General Election. Candidate forums are being planned for the Governor, Lt. Governor, Treasurer, and U.S. Senator positions.
