Naturalist Patti Smith will lead a workshop on creating and maintaining a nature journal f in the Community Meeting Room of Brooks Memorial Library.
A nature journal that captures observations and experiences can bring enhanced, intensive attention to one's surroundings. Keeping a nature journal can be a potent tool for learning or for finding peace and beauty. In this workshop, Bonnyvale Environmental Education Center's Patti Smith will share some tips for creating a beautiful journal that will help hone observation goals. Smith will introduce the materials she uses in the field and suggest prompts for observation. She will share her tips for being safe and comfortable outdoors at all times of day and in all seasons. The group will practice sketching exercises that improve observation and drawing skills.
The program is free and open to the public and is sponsored by the Friends of Brooks Memorial Library.
