What is the first known board game manufactured in America? What was America's first "travel" game? What game brought the US Congress to a standstill? What was the most important game during WWII? What games have been made in Vermont? These are just a few of the interesting facts about board games that will be discussed on November 15th, 2014, the day designated by the American Library Association as Play a Game @ Your Library Day.
Martha Folsom has been collecting and playing games all her life. For fourteen years she was the owner of a specialty game store. She is a member of the international organization, The Association of Game & Puzzle Collectors, and served 5 years as president of the organization.
She will discuss the history of board games, and their makers, and how our culture and history is depicted by the art on game boards and boxes. After the presentation please stay and learn to play some very interesting games.
