The St. Johnsbury Band will perform a summer season ending concert to benefit local flood relief Monday, August 26th from the bandstand in Courthouse Park 7:30 PM, weather permitting.
We hope to perform a fun piece 'Curtain Call' which is an up-tempo celebration of each section of the band which was given to us to honor John Mead, a professional trombone virtuoso and former member of the band.
Also on tap for the concert is the band's first performance of 'Meleguena' by Lecuona and Banks arranged by Michael Story with David Askren featured on horn. Conductor Gary Aubin likes to perform an overture in each concert and the band rehearsed 'Broadway Show-Stoppers Overture which is a nice collection of popular showtunes.
Kirsten Harter will conduct 'Soundtrack Highlights from Guardians of the Galaxy' one of her favorites with popular tunes 'Hooked on a Feeling,' Cherry Bomb,' 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough' and other fun tunes.
The free ice cream social is sponsored by NVRH with Chocolate Moose Tracks, Salty Caramel and Raspberry Roadrunner; all favorites of the concert attendees. Plus there are personal sized kids' sundaes left over from last week. Both the ice cream social and the concert are free and all donations support flood relief. Donations to the St. Johnsbury Band are tax deductible. For more information contact manager@stjohnsburyband.org
Come out and enjoy live music and free ice cream and donate to flood relief.
