Monday, November 17, 2014, 7 PM D. Rawson Library, Jericho Gregory Sharrow, Co-Director, Vermont Folklife Center, Middlebury “A Sense of Place: Vermont's Farm Legacy”.
This lecture explores the fabric of farm culture in the past and probes its relationship to the world of Vermont today.
The talk is being held as part of Vermont Agricultural Literacy Week.
"The character of a place is shaped by its cultural heritage and folklife, the informal traditions of family and community that guide the ways in which a person plans a meal, treats a neighbor, or understands civic responsibility.
In Vermont, the cultural legacy of farming has strongly influenced the identity of Vermonters.
It is these distinctive traditions which have persisted even with the decline in farm numbers that help make this state unique."
