Tai Chi is often described as meditation in motion. It is clinically proven to reduce the risk of falls and improve balance among older adults. Through slow, gentle movement, participants gain flexibility, muscle strength, improved posture, balance, and concentration. Tai Chi can be practiced standing or from a seated position.
This is an 8-week course, meeting from 11:00 am - noon every Wednesday for 8 weeks. The first class is on Wednesday, September 4 and the last class is on Wednesday, October 23. Each class builds on the last one, so participants are encouraged to attend all classes if possible. No experience is required. Beginners are welcome, and there will be extra time at the end of each class to help newcomers catch up to the existing group.
Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and flat shoes with closed toes and heels. No bare feet, sandals or slippers, please. While targeted at older adults, these classes are appropriate and beneficial for people of all ages who want to experience beginner to intermediate-level Tai Chi.
