Great music accessible to everyone!

The program includes one of the most significant masterpieces of the late 20th century, Steve Reich’s Different Trains for string quartet and tape. The three movements of the work depict different train journeys during the years 1939 and 1942. The New York Times writes of Different Trains: "a work of such astonishing originality that breakthrough seems the only possible description....possesses an absolutely harrowing emotional impact."

Also on the program is music for soprano and string quartet by Argentine composer Osvaldo Golijov and British composer Harrison Birtwistle, and a quintet for string quartet plus double bass by 19th century Czech composer Antonin Dvorak.
