Please join VGS and national technology development organization GTI Energy on August 29th (5:00pm-7:00pm ET) for a workshop to learn about and discuss the future of community geothermal energy systems.
The meeting will be held in the Digital Lab at the
South Burlington Public Library
180 Market Street
South Burlington, VT 05403
This workshop is funded by a Department of Energy Award # DE-EE0010669 to hear Vermonter's thoughts and questions about how geothermal heating and cooling can benefit our communities (click here for more information about the project). The Department of Energy (DOE) Geothermal Technologies Office funded projects across the country that will help communities design and deploy geothermal district heating and cooling systems, create related workforce training, and identify and address environmental justice concerns (link).
Your input will inform how the DOE supports the deployment of community geothermal energy systems in Vermont and nationwide. During this workshop we will discuss:
• The value community geothermal systems bring to your cities and towns and what we should aim to learn from pilot community geothermal projects.
• How we can build the workforce needed to install and maintain community geothermal systems.
• How to use community geothermal systems to improve energy resilience in our communities and optimize the electric grid.
• And to hear your ideas about opportunities and challenges for these geothermal systems and address any questions you may have.
Food and beverages will be provided in the workshop.
Please contact Morgan Hood at mhood@vermontgas.com if you would like to attend.
Note: GTI Energy will be taking candid photos at the event which may be used in future promotional materials. If you do not consent to the use of your image and/or name used for this purpose,
