Friday Night Movie at the Williamsville Hall presents "Thema & Louise" (1991) on Friday, August 23, at 7:30 PM. Ridley Scott directed this entertaining, humorous, and harrowing film, nominated for six Academy Awards (Callie Khourie won for best screenplay), which became a feminist beacon long before #MeToo. Thelma, played by Geena Davis, and Louise, played by Susan Sarandon, set off from their small town in Arkansas on a fishing trip, but an unexpected encounter between Thelma and a man she meets in a bar changes their getaway into a runaway. The film follows them as they flee westward with the Arkansas State Police (Harvey Keitel plays the investigator) and the FBI in hot pursuit.
Motion Picture Rating (MPAA) rated R. Running time: 130 mins.
