Film Screening at the Library

Hi neighbors,

I wanted to highlight an important community film screening happening this Wednesday, Aug 14th at 7pm at the Richmond Free Library. The film, created by Vermont-based film producer Bess O'Brien, is called Just Getting By and offers an intimate look at the lives of Vermonters who are struggling with food and housing insecurity. Vermont has the second highest rate of homelessness in the country and one third of Vermonters struggle to put food on the table.

I work for the Vermont Foodbank in a direct service provider role and help people connect with food resources. Everyday I hear over and over again from people that they are really struggling. It's a hard reality to absorb, but I believe it's important that we all learn more and understand the hardship our neighbors may be experiencing. I encourage you to come see this film on Wednesday and to bring your friends and family. With Bess available for a Q&A afterward, there will be time to process and debrief what you see in the film and to talk about ways to improve the lives of folks facing challenges similar to those detailed in the film. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=R2Vv65vyzLU

I'll be there!
