Mooncake 月饼, a delicacy traditionally enjoyed during the Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival or the Mooncake Festival, holds a deep cultural significance. This festival, which falls on the 15th day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar (September or early October in the Georgian calendar), is a time for family and friends to come together. The roundness of mooncakes symbolizes reunion and happiness in Chinese culture, making this event a wonderful opportunity to experience and celebrate our shared heritage.
Get ready for a culinary adventure as we explore the art of making mooncakes! The Vermont Chinese School will provide the dough, lotus seed paste, and red bean paste fillings. However, we also encourage you to bring your own fillings to personalize your mooncakes. We will be making a variety of mooncakes, including the traditional mooncake, the Shanghai style mooncake, and the snow-skin mooncake, each with its unique flavor and texture.
Please email vtchineseschool@gmail.com to sign up and indicate the sets required. Payment must be prepaid in advance via Venmo or PayPal (details will be provided at signup).
The deadline for class registration and pre-order is August 17.
