Ag Literacy Week Kick Off
‘Tasty bluegrass and fresh produce to be served at Chandler’

NOFA-VT and The Chandler Center for the Arts Join Forces for Ag Literacy Week Kick Off with Run Boy Run - November 15, 2014 7:30pm - Chandler Center for the Arts

Both tasty bluegrass and fresh local produce will be served on Saturday, November 15 at Chandler, with a performance by Run Boy Run at 7:30 p.m and earlier a farmer's market starting at 3:00 p.m.

The Northeast Organic Farming Association of Vermont (NOFA-VT), as part of Agricultural Literacy Week, is sponsoring a farmer’s market in the Esther Mesh Room of Chandler’s Upper Gallery with food created by area restaurants and local organic producers, as well as a photo exhibit titled “Home Grown in Central Vermont,” featuring the works of Ben DeFlovio.

3:30 & 5:30 pm: Know Your Farmer Know Your Pizza
Just about everyone loves pizza! Bread, cheese and toppings - what's not to like? Spend a few minutes with Field Stone Farm learning how they incorporate what "grows on the farm" into imaginable and delightful pizza's that also focus on the seasons. Spinach is great on pizza but how about winter squash? Kale? Vermont Cranberry Beans? Try some samples and free your imagination and your taste buds!

4:30pm: Pairing Pickles
Pickles can be more than just an appetizer or a sandwich side. Get ideas on how to incorporate local pickled veggies into your festive holiday meals and daily dinners. And when the pickles are done, you still have the brine – ideas for using brines for flavoring soups, stocks and sauces. Samples included!

6:30pm: Festive Farm Fresh Drinks
Another way to enjoy farm fresh food is in what you drink! Join Green Mountain Girls Farm to learn about fun ways to incorporate local fruits and veggies into your beverages from Black Currant Spritzers & Maple Sodas to Localvore Bloody Mary’s and a range of fun options in between. Get inspiration, how to's and some samples.
