Join us at the Museum for Grandma's Trunk Vintage Fashion Festival and the opening of our new hands on kids' makerspace, Imagining the Future! Free admission and fun activities for all ages.
Grandma's Trunk: Vintage Fashion Festival:
Beat the Summer doldrums and join experts in a variety of Victorian clothing and fashion accessories in the Sheldon gardens and barn. In the event of rain, we will bring the fun indoors. Bring your vintage hats, buttons & pins, dresses, shoes, and other items to the experts! Fashion historians, accessory makers, mending artists, hair stylists and more will be available to answer your questions and show you some new techniques. Hair demo begins at noon. We will have a whimsical and family friendly hat making activity and dress up photo booth. Plus, Fairytale Farm will be selling their delicious sheep milk gelato.
Invite your friends and family and don't forget to dive into your Grandma's trunk!
Imagining the Future: A Kids' Makerspace
Join our Makerspace summer interns, Kurt and Taylor, as we welcome our first visitors to the new kids' space at the Sheldon. Inspired by our Patent Pending: Ingenuity and Innovation in Vermont exhibit and in collaboration with Middlebury College's Makerspace, this new space is designed for play, creation and tinkering at the Sheldon! We have our very own Rigamajig set, a magnetic wall marble run, a sewing station, a 3-D printer & graphic design station, a stop-motion animation station, and more. Come imagine with us!
