Having a basic understanding of your bike and knowing how to care for it is empowering to both you and your ride. The One-Night Stand at Old Spokes Home will cause neither regret nor shame; instead, it will help you stay safer, keep your bike running longer, and give you confidence in either getting what you need at the bike shop or figuring out how to deal with it on your own.
The One-Night Stand will provide useful skills and knowledge that every bicycle user should have, such as:
-How to remove and reinstall your wheels
-How to fix a flat tire
-How to clean and care for your chain and gears
-How to perform a safety check on your bike
-How to keep a regular bicycle cleaning routine (and what is and is not important to clean)
And how to diagnose common problems with your bike
This is a 'BYOB' event - Bring Your Own Bike. If you only know your way around one bike, it should be your own! Of course, the skills and confidence that you will acquire can be transferred to any bike and if you don't have a bike available, we will provide one.
This clinic will be hosted in the Old Spokes Home Community Workshop at 664 Riverside Drive, 6-7:30 pm on Wednesday nights from August 14 through September 18. Bike stands, tools and supplies will be provided and to maximize direct instruction, class size will be limited to 6 participants. Cost is $50. Scholarships are available for individuals for whom this fee represents a barrier to participation. For those interested in a scholarship, please complete this additional sign-up form -https://forms.gle/yJUDGWwNVnxnRhDZA - and a promo code will be provided.
All participants will receive 20% off tool purchases the day of the clinic.
