Some of you may know Katie from MAUHS or even as part of the wait staff at Pangaea during her college years, while others may have had the opportunity to hear her beautiful voice at some point —perhaps during one of her performances at the Old First Church, our St. James Messiah Sing Along, or another local event. She truly has the voice of an angel!
She and her young family have now moved back to the area and on August 24th, Katie is holding a recital here in Bennington. Before returning to the area, Katie spent a several years performing with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the St. Louis Symphony, Dallas Opera, Florentine Opera, the Arizona Opera and the Metropolitan Opera, among others. In the crossover realm, she joined the Boston Pops both at Symphony Hall and Tanglewood for the premiere of Sondheim and Lapine's Sondheim on Sondheim.
She's invited her dear friend and mentor, Craig Terry, to play, and he's graciously taken time out of his schedule to come and have join her on this concert. He is a Grammy-winning pianist who will be performing with the likes of Joyce DiDonato, Yo Yo Ma and Cecilia Bartoli within a month of his performance with Katie.
The August 24th recital will be held at the Monument Center for the Arts in Bennington. Tickets are $35 for adults, $30 for seniors, and $25 for students. Katie, accompanied by Craig Terry, will be performing opera arias, a Haydn cantata, and a whole bunch of American song and musical theater. It's going to be a fun program, and you can find more info at this link:
